Praline and I recently embarked on an unforgettable dog-focused vacation to the beautiful town of Ellijay, Georgia, and we just have to share our adventure with you! 🐾
Our trip started with a hike on the scenic Tumbling Waters Trail. Praline was in her element, exploring the lush surroundings and splashing in the streams. The trail was the perfect way to kick off our getaway, providing both exercise and a chance to soak in nature’s beauty.
After we recovered from our hike, we visited some charming pet-friendly shops and cafes. One of our favorite stops was Mountain Hounds, a fantastic local pet store that supports the Gilmer County Humane Society. We were thrilled to donate some gift bags from our recent race to this wonderful store, knowing they would go to great use.
Our accommodations were nothing short of perfect. We stayed at Shepherd Run, the most pet-friendly Airbnb I have ever experienced. The host’s warm hospitality and the thoughtful amenities for Praline made our stay incredibly comfortable. Praline loved the spacious yard, and I appreciated the peaceful setting and cozy atmosphere.
For food, we discovered some amazing pet-friendly spots. The Shack served up delicious vegan poke bowls, and A Little Baked treated us to mouthwatering pastries and even gave Praline her very own pup cupcake! We also enjoyed spotting beautiful deer during our walks around the area, adding a touch of magic to our trip.
This vacation was a reminder of the special times we share with our pets and the joy they bring to our lives. It also highlighted the importance of our work at Praline’s Backyard Foundation. By providing safe spaces for the pets of domestic violence survivors, we ensure that these special bonds are preserved even in times of crisis.
