Today, we’re excited to share the story of how a chance meeting at a career fair led to a meaningful collaboration with VCA Animal Hospital. The Serendipitous Beginning of a Partnership
The story of this partnership started unexpectedly. While attending a career fair to recruit dog walkers for my business, Praline’s Backyard Dog Services, I set up my pop-up banners—one for the business and one for Praline’s Backyard Foundation. As fate would have it, the Vet Tech Program Director noticed the foundation’s banner and approached me. Intrigued by our mission, she wanted to learn more. What followed was a conversation that sparked a connection.
This meeting led to the Vet Tech Program Director and her students volunteering for our Paws for Domestic Violence race in May. Their energy and passion for helping survivors and their pets made a lasting impression. It was clear that we had found a group who shared our vision and wanted to support our mission.
The Advantages of Partnership
By August, we were thrilled to announce a formal partnership with VCA Animal Hospital’s Southeast Region. This collaboration highlights numerous advantages of partnership that are already transforming the way we serve survivors and their pets. Thanks to this partnership, we can now provide safe housing and essential medical care for pets of survivors in Georgia and Alabama.
This partnership allows us to offer even more comprehensive services. With the help of VCA Animal Hospital, we’re able to expand our resources and provide medical evaluations, treatments, and the care needed to keep pets safe during an incredibly difficult time for survivors. This support alleviates one of the greatest worries survivors face when trying to leave an abusive situation: the safety and well-being of their beloved pets.
Expanding the Power of Partnerships
What’s most exciting is the potential for more partnerships like this one. The connections we make through partnerships amplify our ability to reach more survivors and help more pets. We hope that this collaboration with VCA Animal Hospital will continue to grow and expand into additional regions. We believe that the more we work together, the more we can accomplish.
